3/24/2024 0 Comments Low coolant light on but its full![]() ![]() I also replaced the cap AGAIN because either the Dorman couldn't withstand 15psi the cap is rated to OR the cap failed. pretty sure the sensor that came installed int he Dorman was junk when I got it so it never worked. ALSO, the low coolant warning I was getting went away. Thicker plastic and the seam felt heavy duty, which is where the Dorman failed. When it exploded I ordered a Genuine Saab part and I got that one yesterday you can tell instantly that its better made. Well, I had ordered a Dorman because Rock Auto was clearancing them out. ![]() I just replaced it three months ago trying to resolve the drip issue, what gives? I popped the hood and the tank was in two pieces and coolant everywhere (I hate the smell of hot coolant). Walked out and steam coming from under the hood. Sitting in the garage after my 40 mile drive home and about 10 minutes later heard a POP followed quickly by a BANG. Any help to get rid of this annoying message would be great. My question, does this warning need to be reset somehow? I have a bluetooth odbii and it doesn't pop up as an error, does it take a dealer to shut it off? Have tried battery disconnected for extended time to reset it but no luck. It's not low, it's not leaking, and now the system is sealed as it should be. Start the car and the light comes on every time. ![]() Anyhow, I was excited to get it done because I figured the low coolant light was being triggered by a pressure issue caused by the leak. 8 hours total, lots of Fiddling and had to do it twice because the gasket that came with the new thermostat was no good. I had to break down and fix it all, that was a chore. Over the weekend the thermostat gasket went bad and just dumped the coolant. Barely losing, so little that it didn't even puddle it just burned on the exhaust. Then I discovered I had a drip from the hard pipe on the rear of the thermostat. It's always full so I would check weakly and just deal with the annoying warning. About a month ago I got sick of it and replaced the tank (figured that was coming sometime anyway) and the new sensor with it hoping that would go away Ever since then the low coolant light turns on everytime I start the car, I hit clear. The low coolant light turned on, I replaced them no problem. If you have fixed this problem already, let me know what/how you did it.Car had 105k, 9 months ago, andI had the overflow hoses leak, which I expected to happen. When the magnetic float works properly, it should float to the coolant level in which case you should not see the low coolant warning light on.Īt any rate, I am about to purchase a new expansion tank, since the magnetic float is shut in my expansion tank. So, my sensor thinks that my coolant level is low. In my case, this magnetic float no longer floats any more and currently sits on the bottom of the expansion tank. If the sensor probe is brittle and damaged, you will most likely need a new sensor.Ģ) Inside the expansion tank, there is a magnetic float that works with your sensor unit to send a signal if you have enough coolant in the expansion tank. Lift up expansion tank to expose the sensor units (one on the left side is coolant level sensor) and remove the sensor for close inspection. Thininking that I had a defective coolant level sensor, bought a brand-new one, replaced it, but I still have the low coolant light on.īased on what I've learned so far, I have 2 advices for you:ġ) You might have a defective coolant level sensor. I have exactly the same problem with my 1996 850 Turbo. ![]()
